The centre was started in April 2003 in the district in which Swami Adbhutananda (a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna) was born.
Activities :
- A public library with 5000 books (450 issued) and 10 periodicals and newspapers.
- A charitable dispensary with allopathic and homoeopathic sections, which treated 2000 cases, all free of cost.
- Free tutorial classes for 50 poor slum students and Institute of Academic Excellence in which 9 students are provided study facilities with necessary aids.
- Annual competitions in essay-writing, elocution, etc among students, and also various cultural programmes.
- Welfare work by way of pecuniary help, distribution of clothes, blankets, etc to the poor and needy.
- Religious activities : Religious discourses, spiritual retreats, and celebration of the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and other saints and prophets, and also festivals like Ramnavami, Janmashtami, Buddha Jayanti, Christmas Eve, etc.
