The ashrama was established in 1927.
Activities of the Math centre :
A publication department, which publishes Gujarati books (5 new and 90 reprints brought out this year) and a Gujarati monthly journal, Sri Ramakrishna Jyot (21st year with 3900 subscribers).

A free library and a reading room with 39,019 books and 238 newspapers and periodicals.

A charitable dispensary with ayurvedic, homoeopathic and eye sections, as well as a physiotherapy centre with special facilities for the treatment of cerebral palsy children. Total 41,993 cases were treated and 426 eye-patients were operated on in eye-camps during the year. A mobile medical unit covering 15 villages treated 4022 patients.


A students’ Home with 18 boys.

A cultural unit, named Vivekananda Institute of Value Education and Culture (VIVEC), which conducted retreats, career guidance seminars, and programmes like value education classes, summer camps, yoga classes, competitions for students and teachers. 24,413 people were benefited.


A school of languages, where Bengali, English, French and Sanskrit are taught, had 223 students.

Special programmes were conducted in jails to impart value education to the inmates.

Rural development work by way of conducting free medical camps (general and eye), free coaching classes (960 students), free tailoring and embroidery classes (95 women), two balak sanghas (89 children), and welfare activities like distributing food and educational aids to poor students, ration kits, blankets and so on to the needy.

A permanent exhibition depicting Indian culture, and the lives of Sri Ramakrishna and Sri Sarada Devi.

Regular worship and fortnightly Ramnam Sankirtan, religious discourses and lectures in and outside the ashrama (215 this year), retreats and seminars.


Celebration of the birth anniversaries of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and other spiritual luminaries, as also festivals like Kali Puja, Ramnavami, Janmashtami, Shivaratri, Christmas Eve, etc.
