The ashrama was started in 1936 and made a branch centre in 1941.
Activities :
- A higher secondary school with 453 boys and 304 girls.
- A Sanskrit upper primary school with 326 boys and 148 girls.
- A junior basic school with 132 boys and 97 girls.
- A nursery school with 291 children.
- A crèche for 31 Harijan infants.
- A students' home with 127 students including 105 tribal and scheduled caste boys.
- A library and a reading room with 9986 books, and 28 periodicals and dailies.
- A community centre for Harijans with a library for children (having 4521 books).
- A typewriting training centre with 44 Harijan students.
- Tailoring classes for 20 girls.
- A publication department mainly for books in Malayalam.
- A free ayurvedic dispensary which treated 2208 cases this year (new 1477).
- A homoeopathic dispensary which treated 4437 cases (new 1483).
- Daily worship, monthly retreats, occasional classes, and public lectures in and outside the ashrama premises.
- Celebration of the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother, Swami Vivekananda, and other prophets.
