The Math and Mission centres were both founded in 1947.
The Math centre preserves the sacred place where Sri Ramakrishna was born, as also his ancestral home.
- It conducted daily worship and religious classes, and observed certain festivals and birthdays of religious celebrities.
The Mission branch has the following wings:
- A high school with 532 boys.
- A junior basic school with 195 boys and 101 girls.
- A free pre-vocational training centre with 8 students.
- A hostel with 78 boys of the high school.
- An area library with 9912 books, and 9 periodicals and newspapers.
- A charitable homoeopathic dispensary, which treated 19,150 cases (new 4326) this year.
- A mobile audio-visual unit.
The Math and Mission centres together conduct rural development works under Pallimangal project, such as running mobile medical dispensary, non-formal schools, soil-testing laboratory, and so on under the guidance of the Headquarters. They also run a mini jute mill for training unemployed rural youth, and provide training to local girls and women in jute handicrafts, weaving, bee keeping, etc.
