The ashrama was started as a sub-centre of Chennai Students' Home in 1932 and made a full-fledged centre in 2000.
Activities :
- A high school with 291 boys and 193 girls.
- An orphanage with 62 boys.
- A vocational training centre with 43 trainees.
- A library with 2650 books, and 14 newspapers and periodicals.
- The centre distributed school uniforms to 513 children and gave scholarships to 99 students this year.
- Religious activities included celebration of the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother, and Swami Vivekananda, as also other religious festivals.
