The Vidyapith was started in 1958.
Activities :
- A residential higher secondary school (roll strength 740). Considered a model school by the Government of India, it offered stipends and scholarships to about 10% of its students, including those belonging to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. The school library had 31,176 books and 82 periodicals during the year.
- A coaching centre for 135 poor boys of the locality.
- A mobile audio-visual unit.
- A miniature zoo.
- An archaeological and science museum.
- A charitable allopathic dispensary, which treated 55,841 patients (new 35,704) this year. It has special clinics for leprosy patients and for immunization of children.
- A dairy farm and a poultry farm.
- Religious activities : Regular religious discourses, and
celebration of the birthdays of spiritual luminaries.
