The ashrama was established in 1927.
Activities :
- A publication department, which brought out 11 new books and 25 reprints, and publishes a monthly journal, Sri Ramakrishna Jyot—all in Gujarati.
- A free library and a reading room with 36,332 books (issued 7858) and 240 newspapers and periodicals.
- Two charitable dispensaries with ayurvedic, homoeopathic and eye sections, as well as a physiotherapy centre with special facilities for the treatment of cerebral palsy children. Total 9274 cases (new 2392) were treated and 169 eye-patients were operated on during the year.
- Rural development work by way of weekly educational and medical services and occasional eye camps, etc.
- A permanent exhibition depicting the life of Sri Ramakrishna.
- Regular worship and fortnightly Ramnam Sankirtan.
- Celebration of the birth anniversaries of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, and other spiritual luminaries, as also festivals like Kali Puja, Ramanavami, Janmashtami, Shivaratri, Christmas Eve, etc.
- Religious discourses and lectures in the ashrama and outside (168 this year).
- Retreats, educational seminars, and youth programmes.
- Relief and welfare work by providing food, uniforms, books and other educational materials, and constructing underground water tanks, community halls, etc. for the tribal and dalit communities of Kutch region.
