Viveknagar (Tripura) : Result

Students of class X of our Viveknagar (Tripura) school secured the following ranks among the students of the State who appeared in NERIST (North-Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology) Examination, 2011:

Scheduled Castes List: 1st, Scheduled Tribes List: 1st & 6th, Unreserved List: 7th & 10th.

A student of our Viveknagar (Tripura) school stood 1st among the Scheduled Tribe students of the State who appeared in IIT Joint Entrance Examination, 2011.

 

A value orientation camp : Silchar

Silchar Ashrama conducted a value orientation camp from 27 to 29 May, in which 135 students and 40 teachers from 29 schools participated.

 

Narottam Nagar school : Joint Entrance Examination

Students of our Narottam Nagar school secured the following positions (within the first ten) in Arunachal Joint Entrance Examinations, 2011:

Engineering Course: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th & 10th

Medical Course: 1st, 2nd & 3rd

 

Inauguration of a building for miscellaneous purposes at Shyamla Tal

On 1 June, Swami Smarananandaji, Vice-President, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, inaugurated a building at Shyamla Tal Ashrama to be used for library, office and some miscellaneous purposes.

 

Obituary : June 2011

We are sorry to announce the passing away of Swami Satprabhanandaji (Krishnamurthy Maharaj) on 16 June at 3.20 pm at Belur Math.  He was 80 and had been suffering from chronic bronchitis and other old-age ailments for some years.  Initiated by Swami Shankaranandaji, he joined the Order in 1956 at Kamarpukur centre and had Sannyasa from Swami Madhavanandaji in 1965.  Besides his joining centre, he served at Rajkot, Saradapitha (Belur), Advaita Ashrama (both Mayavati and Kolkata) and Narendrapur centres.  He also participated in relief work at Guwahati (1987-88) and Hingalganj (1988-89).  During the last few years, the Swami served at Belur Math library and used to give some classes to the newly joined Brahmacharis at Belur Math.

 

Student Achivements

A student of our Chandigarh hostel secured the 20th rank in AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination).

 

BSc (Honours) students of our colleges in West Bengal secured the following all-India ranks (within the first ten) at the Joint Admission test for MSc (acronym: JAM) courses in the various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Abhinav Mukund, a second year student of Vivekananda College (Chennai Vidyapith) and Murali Vijay, an ex-student of the same college, have been selected to represent the Indian cricket team for the ongoing tour to the West Indies (June-July 2011).  Both of them opened the Indian innings in the test matches.

Personalia : June 2011

Swami Atmasthanandaji, President, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, returned to Belur Math from Seva Pratishthan on 19 June, after the successful operation of his left inguinal hernia.  He is keeping well.

Swami Gitanandaji, Vice-President, continues to be under medical care at Kankurgachhi Math.

Swami Smarananandaji, Vice-President, is scheduled to return to Belur Math on 4 July after his visit to Kamarpukur, Jayrambati and the Institute of Culture, Kolkata.  He is in good health.

Swami Prameyanandaji, Vice-President,  who had not been keeping well lately, was admitted to Seva Pratishthan on 5 June for medical investigation and treatment.   On 10 June, he was shifted to Peerless Hospital, Kolkata, where he underwent a successful coronary bypass surgery on 18 June.  He returned to Seva Pratishthan on 28 June and is recuperating there.
