1. Flood Relief:

(a) Orissa: Bhubaneswar
centre distributed 3000 tarpaulins to
flood-affected families belonging to 146 villages of Basta
block in Balasore district this month.
(b) West Bengal:
(a) The following centres continued
their relief operations among the flood victims in West Bengal.
Details of the relief materials distributed by them during this
month are given below.

(i)
Belgharia – 16,751 kg chira, 140 kg milk powder, 1715 kg
sugar, 5574 packets of biscuits, 5406 candles, 5377 matchboxes and
3,04,800 halogen tablets to 14,389 flood victims belonging to
6 villages of Sabang block in Paschim Medinipur district and 1
village of Patashpur block in Purba Medinipur district. Besides,
the centre sprayed bleaching powder in two villages, provided
medical care to the villagers, and repaired a village road,
including 3 culverts, damaged by the flood.

(ii) Chandipur – 5659 kg
chira, 260 kg milk powder, 1331
kg sugar, gur and sugar candy, 3207 kg rice, 166 kg dal,
755 kg potatoes, 3600 packets of biscuits, 12,000 halogen tablets
and 325 kg bleaching powder to 22,882 victims belonging to
Bhagawanpur, Chandipur and Patashpur areas in Purba Medinipur
district and Sabang in Paschim Medinipur district.

(iii) Contai
– 26,556 kg chira, 5255 kg sugar,
1477 packets of biscuits and 1,00,000 halogen tablets to 9500
flood-affected families belonging to 33 villages of Egra and Contai
sub-divisions in Purba Medinipur district.
(iv) Narendrapur – Dry food items
(chira and gur) to 1994 flood-affected families and
1,20,786 plates of cooked food (khichuri) to flood victims at
Patashpur - I & II, Bhagawanpur - I, Egra - II, and Chandipur blocks
in Purba Medinipur district, and Debra block in Paschim Medinipur
district.
(v) Tamluk – 12,637 kg
chira and 1264 kg sugar to 3672 families belonging to 9 villages
of Pingla block in Paschim Medinipur district.
(b) Taki Ashrama started relief operations in nearby affected
areas this month. It distributed 1400 kg chira, 167 kg gur,
240 packets of biscuits, 50 kg milk powder and 15,000 halogen
tablets to 688 flood victims at Hingalganj block in North 24
Parganas district.
2. Distress
Relief:

(i) Belgaum centre distributed
notebooks and pens to 250 poor school students of nearby areas.
(ii) Nagpur Math distributed 530 school uniforms, 1600
notebooks, 530 pens and other stationery items to the poor and needy
students of 13 schools in 12 nearby villages.
(iii) Ulsoor Math distributed school uniforms, notebooks,
etc. to 7233 poor students at 82 villages in 4 districts of
Karnataka. Besides, the centre built 70 toilets in Annayanadoddi
village of Anekal Taluk in Bangalore Urban district, as a part of
its rural welfare programme.
